Leonidio
Leonidio is a town with a long hstory in times. It is the capital of South Kynouria and Tsakonian region as well. Located on both sides riverbed Dafnonas River ( known in antiquity as Selinoundas) and based on the improsing red rock, ends in a fertile valley which is ending to the sea (Myrtoon). Featured traditional village with historical monuments, offers a journay through the history of arcitecture, with houses and towers dating from before 1800, the mid 19th century and buildings of brilliant Tsakonian architecture with pebbled yards, tall whitewashed stone walls, the tile-roofed verandas and the painted ceilings.
Within 4 km. is the seaport of Leonidio named Plaka. Plaka is a beutiful picturesque harbor with its beutyfull pebbled beach while north is extending to a sand beach 2km long (Lakos).
